Gallery 001And still more work is being added!

We’re replacing the old Archives with a new Gallery.  The old archives just weren’t user-friendly, so we’ve created a whole new site running an installation of Gallery 2.

The Gallery is slowly being filled up with content, but it’s already home to a couple hundred photographs, videos, and drawings.  This is an on-going process, so be sure to check back.   It takes a little time to add descriptions and keywords, but these are searchable fields, so it’s important that we take the time to do it right.

What’s It Got?

The Trilobyte Gallery is home to a range of resources for creators.  These include:

  • Establishing Shots
  • Maps
  • Reference Models
  • Character Drawings
  • Technical Drawings
  • Logos and Graphic Designs

Of most interest are the Establishing Shots and Reference Models.

Establishing Shots

This is a collection of photos and short (~1 minute) videos that can be used as references or to establish a setting or mood in a video.   They’re all listed by geographic location, so you can pick the place you want to show to your viewers, and make it look authentic.  These are actually shot in the locations specified; No need to use Vancouver as a stand-in for everything!

All of these files are released under a Creative Commons BY-NC-SA license, with the following modification:

Non-Commerical (NC) refers to stand-alone use of the images.  You may not sell the images as-is (e.g., as a poster), or as the primary content of another work.  You may use the images within a larger commercial work (such as a movie).   For free.

If you’re a photographer or videographer and you’d be willing to share some of your work, contact us with a link to samples of your work.  We’ll take a look, and if it fits with our vision, we’ll set you up with a contributor account.

Reference Models

Gallery 002Writing characters can be hard–especially trying to picture what they look like and keep the descriptions consistent.   That’s where our gallery of Reference Models comes in.   It’s a collection of portraits and snapshots that you can use to help create your characters.

These photos are provided by the original models and photographers, and are for personal reference only.  You may not use the images within your work without express permission from the copyright holder.

If you’re a photographer or model person and you’d like to contribute your likeness to be a muse for creators, contact us and let us know.   Photos must be tasteful (keep it PG, please), but do not need to be professional.  Home snapshots are perfectly acceptable.   We’ll need to know your relative age (20s, 60s, etc.), and be sure to include the URL to your website so we can properly credit you.
